FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What instruments are in a string quartet?

A string quartet has four players: two violins, a viola, and a cello. A string trio typically includes either 2 violins and a cello, or one violin, one viola, and a cello.

What is the difference between a violin and a viola?

A viola burns longer.

Just kidding! A viola is a little bit bigger and lower in pitch than a violin. Its range is halfway between a cello and a violin. So, if you think about it like a group of singers, a violin is like the soprano and the viola is an alto.

EVENT BOOKING

How many musicians should I hire for my event?

It depends on the size of your event (number of guests), the kind of sound you are looking for, and your budget. Some people find a solo violinist very romantic, just in like the movies. But if you are looking for non-classical music, a string trio should be the minimum, and a quartet is ideal.

If you are hosting a fairly large event (ie. a corporate event or a 100+ guest wedding), one of the larger ensembles is probably going to be more appropriate. A sound engineer may be able to use microphones to amplify fewer musicians, but often this ends up costing more, and you also run the risk of logistical challenges like wind, access to electricity, or technical difficulties with the gear.

Have you played many weddings or private events?

Yes, definitely. We don't dare disclose our ages, but we've all been performing onstage since we were little and have played hundreds of events over the years. We do weddings, parties and celebrations, memorials, and even library events. And although we've all been formally music school-trained, nothing beats years of real work experience.

HOW MANY SONGS DO I NEED TO CHOOSE FOR MY WEDDING?

The typical wedding ceremony has 3 main songs: one for the bridal party's entrance, one for the bride's entrance, and one for everybody to exit to. This, of course, may vary based on preferences, nature of the ceremony, and any additional special moments you might include during the ceremony.

You can also give us a list of artists or kinds of music you'd like included in the pre-ceremony. It's impossible to know the exact number of songs we'll need, but we have a pretty extensive library and will choose songs that will set just the right tone.

where do you perform? Do you traveL?

Although we're based in Miami, Florida, we do travel. Some of the cities we travel to are Key Largo, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. We've even been known to go to the Bahamas. If you're not sure if your event venue is within reach, just ask! We don't bite...
